Just as spring is a new beginning, we hope to bring fresh ideas to help teachers keep learning and keep teaching with our Pearson English Spring Days: Adult Sessions.

Pearson English Spring Days is an online learning event taking place from 4th – 15th May, 2020

If you teach adults, you’ll be able to learn from a number of leading ELT experts including Damian Williams, Dr. Ken Beatty, Margaret O’Keeffe and Lindsay Warwick

They’ll offer professional development advice and lots of practical classroom tips on areas such as business English, teaching remotely and developing different skills.

How to teach remotely with StartUp – Part 1 with Dr Ken Beatty

What to expect? 

Many teachers using StartUp suddenly need to deliver lessons at a distance. Fortunately, StartUp’s Teacher Portal, Student Portal, Pearson Practice App, and other resources can help make distance learning efficient and effective. Using the example of one unit from StartUp Level 2, these two webinars introduce steps teachers can take to organize their classes, choose delivery methods, encourage pair and group work, and assess progress using StartUp’s digital tools. The first webinar focuses on ways to teach each unit’s opening page, and the first three listening and speaking lessons.

What to expect?

While useful for developing all four language skills, speaking features heavily throughout the main pathway of Roadmap. In this webinar, Damian Williams will look at how to make the most of Roadmap’s key features to maximise opportunities not just to practise but also to teach speaking skills at every turn.

How to develop future skills with Damian Williams

What to expect?

Using Roadmap to teach your students helps them develop the language and skills to prepare them for life outside the classroom. Additionally, it helps equip them for further academic study and employment. In this webinar, Damian Williams will talk you through how to help your students build up the future skills they need in order to ensure they can study and work in English with confidence.

How to teach English for work to low level learners with Margaret O’Keeffe

What to expect?

What do low-level learners need to communicate simply and effectively in the international workplace? This webinar presents some principles and techniques to help A1 and A2 level students improve their English for everyday work situations. We will look at ways to support vocabulary learning and maximise student speaking time. We will also consider the work skills to practise and how to build students’ confidence in their language learning abilities. This webinar will include content from the Business Partner series.

How to teach business English to advanced level learners Margaret O’Keeffe

What to expect?

Some advanced learners are professionals, well-established in their careers, who need help to brush up on their English and want to practise their business skills. Others are undergraduates or recent graduates at the start of their careers who have less knowledge of the business world and how to work in an international environment. This webinar looks at some of the challenges of teaching C1 level learner in both groups and how to overcome them. This webinar will include content from the new Business Partner series.

How to teach remotely with Roadmap with Lindsay Warwick 

What to expect?

With classroom teaching moving online, many teachers are concerned about how to use their coursebooks in a live online lesson so that learners are engaged and learning outcomes are achieved. In this webinar, Lindsay Warwick will demonstrate how you can use the digital resources that come with Roadmap to create a speaking lesson with language input and practice. Lindsay will suggest ways to adapt this plan to suit different class types and different online platforms, and give tips on how best to prepare for an online class.

Each session will last up to 60 minutes and will take place live on our webinar platform (selected sessions will also be streamed live on Facebook).
